Eretria is the island of Evia, which is one of the largest islands in Greece. The distance from Chalkis (the capital of Evia), is about 20 minutes by car and 25-30 minutes by bus. The best time to visit is undoubtedly the spring and summer. The climate is mild and only in August the weather is a bit windy.

Eretria is about 1,5 hour away from Athens under normal conditions. The bus service is almost every half hour on weekdays ,from the central bus station on Liosion str. There is also the alternative to reach Eretria by by train (up to Chalkis and then by bus). You can also get the ferry from Oropos and reach the port of Eretria within 15 to 20 minutes in the port of Eretria. There connection is frequent.

There are ATM's fror several banks in Eretria. There is a medical center in Eretria, and the hospital Chalkis just 20 to 30 minutes. There are enough pharmacies in Eretria and a lot of  tourist shops downtown. Every Sunday you can visit the flea market and find fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood, all locally produced.

There is also a Post Office, good coverage of mobile networks, as well as many rooms to let and really lovely hotels! As far as the food is concerned, there are seaside tavernas with good food and fresh seafood. You can also try traditional tiganopsomo.
In general, Eretria has only peaceful clubs bars and cafes.

Each July we celebrate the Marine Week with cultural events, music and songs.The Island of Dreams, which is connected to Eretria with a footbridge , is without any doubt splendid setting for walking, swimming, and also for vacation in the bungalows on the island.
